PATCHING COMPOUNDS
- When shower can be used after grouting:
24 hours.
- Area where tub meets tile:
Do not use grout. This is what it means by grout is not a tub chalk. Use caulking compound in such an area where movement occurs or flexibility is required such as fiberglass tub enclosures.
- Use grout on floor:
Yes.
- Removing dry grout:
Gently scrape with putty knife or razorblade (may need to soften with damp sponge from hot water for ready to use variety).
- Tinting Ready to Use & Powder Grout:
Use tints for Latex Paint not oil base. For powder, tint must be water-soluble.
- Curing time for LevelBest:
Less than 1/2 inch thick = 4-6 hours, 1/2 inch or more = 24 hours.
Sets in 1 hour.
- LevelBest curing too fast:
Can be from poor water quality or iron in water - Add 1 Tablespoon white vinegar per 5 pounds or use bottled water.
- Tinting/Painting LevelBest:
Will take oil base stain. Can paint but use primer first.
- LevelBest & exterior surfaces or moisture areas:
NO - gypsum based & is affected by water.
- Use LevelBest with self-stick tiles:
Yes - Paint surface with adhesive promoter first.
- LevelBest over old adhesive or tiles:
No - surface must be clean & free of old tile, linoleum & dirt. Recommend Adhesive Remover or SuperStrip to remove old mastics & adhesives.
